James Bruce
“This happened so that the work of God
might be displayed in his life.”
John 9:3 (NIV)
James Bruce Evans, Jr. of Vestavia Hills, Alabama died on February 12 at the age of 38. He was born on February 1, 1984 in Sylacauga, Alabama. He attended Vestavia Hills High School and later United Ability before becoming a resident last year at Rainbow Omega. James Bruce was an active member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
James Bruce was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Bruce Evans and grandparents Ed and Doris Muir. He is survived by his loving family: parents Bruce and Donna Evans; sister Meredith Evans Hamblen (Clay); brothers Robert Evans (Anne) and Daniel Evans (Olivia); nieces Julia, Caroline, and Mary Clayton Hamblen; grandmother Mrs. Margaret Evans, and a large extended family. James Bruce loved good coffee, Disney movies, hymns, and Special Connections, but most of all he loved and lived close to Jesus.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in the sanctuary at Briarwood Presbyterian Church at 2 PM on Thursday, February 17 with visitation to follow. The memorial service will be live streamed on the Briarwood web site for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Rainbow Omega or the Big Oak Ranch. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Rainbow Omega and Briarwood’s Special Connection Ministry for their loving and faithful service to James Bruce.
He was dearly loved and we will miss him greatly.
